The Yellow Paint Mystery
I couldn't find the recipe for the campers yellow paint.
I couldn't believe it - well I shouldn't have.
It was there but buried in some drunken rant about formatting and blogger interfaces.
So here is the latest
I made it thicker for brushing most of it's going into bits you can't see.
The base is nearly right but the inside and the outside of the camper are different colours.
I like the outside (faded version) better.

The Last Weekend

Two days of fun.
Day 1
Repaired the passenger footwell.
Welding fun.
Not a bad job.
The welding into mid air was rubbish making a little fillet and running a weld around would take time but easier in the end.
Day 2
We went for a walk
This time I can remember what happened.
We went on a hunt for Minning Low
this picture from Megalithic Portal
As the picture suggests it dominates the landscape but it's the trees what do it.
When it was a what ever it was in the whatever age there would have been trees a go go.
So the monumental landscape I see is not what it was placed in.
And you can see it from Green Low.

The Hype of English Fizz
Your usual shampoo correspondent is currently missing.
You're stuck with me.
S says too flowery
G says too dry
I thought we (the English) made the best fizzy White wine ever.
This obviously isn't it.

Country Fun
In honour of my Mother's birthday Ulverston held a carnival.
It would have been churlish not to attend.

We Went on a walk
I'll have a go at some inspiration but I think Google Earth is still broke on this little linux notebook.
And
Yes
I can't remember.
And
Yes
It still is broke.
So you'll have to make up some narrative.

Bus Blog
I'm on my way to work for the first time in donkey's age - on a bus.
The lovely 52 to woodhouse by stagecoach.
Are they the Nazi bus company?
The Merc is finally being fixed - broken spring front nearside. I don't have the tools or the inclination.
I'm not inclined so I'm level.
What a daft word.
I'm n
So I'm level about fixing the Merc coz its gotta go and I've got the Camper to worry about. Latest is the 'domestic wiring'. I have a plan but as per usual its very complicated

Wire van
After fitting sound and hear insulation
After straightening side panel
After fixing window reveals
After buying replacement window rubbers.
If it wasn't complicated it wouldn't be fun.

Photo Storage Talking Consumer Blues
I've been using Flickr then it started whinging about too many piccies.
I thought these things were unlimited.
Nerry mind
I'll stick it all on my Google account.
Thats got a limit.
But not for documents, mail, or ...
Just Photos
I've found a photobucket account.
They say it's unlimited.
If I tell everyone they'll give me an iPad 2.
Maybe
Here's a slideshow already set up.

The "Ursutz" Burner Part II
Long time ago I started the idea of a waste oil burner.
The spring bank holiday crappy weather provided the temporal opportunity.
The mental attitude came from some cajoling.
And I like fire!
Lionels Lab still is a good source but google "Ursutz burner" and you'll get the drift.
I built one by casting a bentonite/portland cement/sand/perlite refractory in plastic forms.
It worked and consumed itself in about 10 minutes.
The refractory wasn't at all suitable.
Mark 2 has a sheet steel outer (washing machine casing)
New refectory 50:50 {by vol} perlite:fire cement.
Fire cement let down 3000kg to 300ml water
Gently mix in Perlite.
5kg fire cement used.

The empty outer

The filled burner
The inner forms are all cardboard, masking tape and cling film.
They'll all get slowly burnt out when the lining gets 'proven'.

I've cast a little test panel to check the curing, but I think leaving it in the state above for at least 3 weeks is a minimum.
I'll stick it in the cellar and forget about it.
The threaded bar and wing nuts are for securing the lid and fixing the burner to stands or furnaces.

More Altitude Training (with added geology)
Still not too wet so we went up onto t'moors yet again.
The other side of the Snake this time.
(OOOerrr Missus - sounds like a Jim Morrison lyric)
Alport Castles is a huge and spectacular landslip.
As I can never get to the Quirang...
(technically not true, I've been there 3 times but I've never been able to see anything never mind clamber about)...
this one is a good substitute.
Rock pinacles with their own names - groovy.
The weather was very Quirangish,
We got to the top and a squall blew up.
Took about an hour to blow out.
All the cameras were occupied.
All the cameras were occupied.
The little Toshiba's gone back to work
The posh Leica never seems to want to play out.
My iNterossiter is back in it's plastic w/proof slimy condom thing.
(and tracking much better agin).
So I was going to do you a piccy by hand.
Rain stopped play.

Adventures in The High Peak Part 2

Or maybe it was this track that was crap - An hour in and it still hadn't found any satellites.
We went on a walk
etc etc
If you look on Google Earth or some other similar thing you can interpolate for the finish to the start.
We went up Ashop Clough to get to the end of Kinder.
Fooooookin' Great day out.
The horizon line in the picture above is 250 ish m above your brave photographer.

The long Weekend - Part 3 another walk
Or
adventures in the high peak part one.
As I've lost the waterproof holder for the iPhone I have to put it in my pocket.
Turns out the layer of cloth is sufficient to interrupt GPS signal.
WHAT!.

Unbelievable but true.
So the track isn't that good.

The Long Weekend - Part 2
I carried on building and fitting boxes to the camper.
Finally I'm finished.
If I could I'd take pictures and show you.
Later.
The hell that is my phone carries on.
I know this is trivial but it doesn't make it easier to handle.
I WANT THIS TECHNOLOGY SO AS TO DO GREAT STUFF WITH EASE.
I'm shouting because I didn't notice the caps lock - fat fingers.
But it's just typical.
Any how.
My phone was shit because I installed ios 4.0 (never do a dot zero upgrade they are always shit)
Finally I thought - go to 4.2.
But you need iTunes 10 to get there.
itunes 10 needs macos 10.blah blah.
not a simple upgrade - £129.
S's mac book has 10.blah blah.
Upgrade that itunes to 10 and then upgrade iPhone to ios 4.2.
Ta-raaaa.
Sorted.
Now iPhone won't talk to iTunes 9.something or other on old iMac.
Groan.
£129 notes needed just to make my phone work like it used to.
Bastards.

Long Weekend Walk Part 1
We went for a walk.
This was meant to have photos and all sorts attatched.
But ....
I'm bored with photos.
A return to the 'good' old days.
No camper - still being serviced.
So walk to the bus stop, get regular bus to outskirts of Sheff, walk to Bakewell and get bus back.
A fine expedition!
I was knackered but happy.

Not The Royal Wedding
We ignored the whole affair quite successfully.

Thank you for the day off - I fitted the penultimate box/carcass into the campervan.
And serviced it.
And-finally repaired the push-rod tube that split on the way to Orkney.
Have a picture...
Well I would if the fecking thing would work.
I'm getting completely ticked off with this internet bollox.
Now my iPhone will not synch with anything else.
See long boring story about versions clash with IOS 4, Snow Leopard (I ask you - what nonsense) and old iMacs.
See it somewhere else I would describe it here - too tedious by far.
I'm sure you smart people will understand or google it.
Another go with the photo...
Nothing!
Lets try html,
IMAG0131
Twat!
This is the box.
Why can Flickr publish it when I can't.
After all that effort - about as interesting as someone's front room!

A Trip To Barrow-in-Furness
For once we went to B-in-F and it didn't rain (much)
Taking advantage of the sunny weather we went up the coast.
The native yaa-paps were friendly.
We went to a castle with owls.

Communication Breakdown
All sorts of stuff seem to conspire to prevent me communicating with anybody.
That stuff is ...
College Work
and tiredness.
Some I have to concentrate it into bursts like this.
Here we go...
(ellipsis mmmmmmm)
Last week;
- against all odds
- competing against potentially billions of other competitors
- in a game of skill
- and intelligence
- I won

A Genuine Rubber Nose!
Today we went for a walk
Here's a slideshow as well.
I missed out that this medium itself conspires to frustrate my efforts to communicate.
Isn't this meant to be information and COMMUNICATION technology.
I've spent the last 2 hours trying to communicate.
It's too much hard work.
Here's some more stuff.

Ancient Egyptians colonised Derbyshire and discovered cement and concrete.
I have proof

Shampoo Review
Have you noticed there's lots of cheap champagne about? Cheap is a relative term £30 bottles at £15 is too good to miss.
What did we think of this one?
We like it!
Bit too yellow
Caramelly

Acidity at the end

In Search of Hob's House (Part 2)
We went on a walk Fred's book describes a spectacular landslip in Monsal Dale.
Last time we went to find it we walked past the path up to it and weren't arsed to climb back up.
This time we searched from the bottom up.
Missed it.
Couldn't be arsed to climb back down.
Bollox!
Next time we might try from above by ropes or something.
You might wonder what's all the fuss?
