Cumbrians Plan Space Colony
The fInal stages of launch preparations at HoadHill Space Centre
attracted large crowds today. Sid and Doris Bonkers, the two lucky
Ulverstonians chosen, were readying themselves to be landed on the
Moon. This will bring the number of wollybacks now resident at
Moonbase Yaapap to 16.

Old Songs and New Old Songs
I keep buying lots of CDs from FOPP - usually in Edinburgh or London but I hardly ever see new things I like.
Even the new recordings I buy are revivalist stuff.
The White Stripes are ace but I'm not sure it's "new" music.
Best thing I've heard recently that sounded "new" to my ears was James Ellroy's Desert Island Discs.
All Beethoven and Brukner.
Here's my choices
Captain Beefheart | The Spotlight Kid |
Captain Beefheart | Clear Spot |
Carolina Chocolate Drops | Genuine Negro Jig |
Frank Zappa | Apostrophe |
Frank Zappa & The Mothers | Over-Nite Sensation |
Gang Of Four | Return The Gift [Disc 2] |
Gang Of Four | Return The Gift [Disc 1] |
Heaven 17 | The Luxury Gap |
John Cooper Clarke | Snap, Crackle & Bop |
Little Feat | Sailin' Shoes |
Little Feat | Dixie Chicken |
Ry Cooder | Bop Till You Drop |
Seasick Steve | Man From Another Time |
Talking Heads | More Songs About Buildings And Food |
The Human League | Reproduction |
The Incredible String Band | The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter |
The Velvet Underground | White Light/White Heat |
Van Der Graaf Generator | Pawn Hearts [Bonus Tracks] |
Van Der Graaf Generator | H To He Who Am The Only One [Bonus Tracks] |
Spot the new recordings!
BTW is that a statue of Stuart Maconie or Brian Clough ?

City Break - Nottingham
A weekend away - first of the year.
We got a camper so that we could camp all year around so every opportunity to use it has to be grabbed. We're aiming once a month.
Keep an eye on us here.
Take the camper out for a check over.
It's not really moved since 09/2009 except for two trips to work very recently. I've got a thin excuse - the weather but it doesn't really work. Not driving it will kill it - LOT ROT. The new regime is at least once a week around Sheffield.
Celebrate a year passing - My Birthday.
I know I've proposed the solistices as the only valuable annual festivals but...
It's nice to have a weekend of treats once a year.
- Strong expensive drink
- Chocolate
- Bread
- Full Fat Cheese
- Posh Coffee
- Snacks
Xmas for atheists
Get away from Sheffield.
I like Sheffield but this weather and my neighbourhood are tiring me at the moment.
I look out of the window and see the same stuff and think
That shed hasn't moved on.
When will I be able to do the autumn stuff on the lawn?
Camper paint.
A change of scene should help even for a couple of days.
Play house/boats/castaways with my best girl.
We have fun in the camper it's a Wendy house on wheels.
Tea Parties.
There's no-one else to bother us.
In fact I feel indignant if people talk.
Unless it's about Campers and then they've had it.
"I used to have one of these..."
"No you didn't this is my Camper it's an air-cooled one, I built the engine, you can't buy this paint you know, was yours a Devon Conversion? maybe I should buy a 4 wheel drive one? it's not a camper anyway it's a Transporter. VW prevent anyone making replacement badges, it's really a Porsche engine made by VW..."
You think they'd know better by now!
Go Shopping
Nottingham is full of shops most of which are the same as anywhere else but I remember it being better than Sheffield for oddities.
It also has one one the few remaining FOPP Records.
The plan is a nice pair of trousers for best - I haven't got anything if I want to smart up.
Except an old suit or two which I don't like.

Landscape = Rice Noodle
The packet disappointed.
The contents didn't.
Not what I'd call instant but 3 mins medium microwave worked well
Ace, big flat rice noodles and nice delicate clear soup.
7/10

Bloomin' Heck
"Hell it aint raining"
Well it did and then got colder and ruined my paint.
The colour however is getting very close and even if the surface does look naff at least it will keep the weather out.
I'll leave it alone for 2 weeks and cut it back and recoat.
Only 10 more coats to go.
It's Sunday now and of course not a drop of rain, still bleeding cold though.
I discovered where the big casting and molds were that I photographed yonks ago (20/04/2009)

Saturday Routines
I'm not fond of grocery shopping - but who is?
Home for cleaning cars/vans.
Crunched neighbour Norman's number plate with the towbar on the Camper.
Worst thing is he heard it!
I was very humble.
He won't let me buy a replacement.
Jet washed the Merc, his Golf and the Camper.
Shampooed Merc.
It was 3.5C.
My paint aint supposed to be applied below 5C - but hell it aint raining.
New recipe.

Yentafo - Not Impressed
I found this one in my pending tray at work with this review.
Rubbish Thin Synthetic
Not Tom Yum Yum @ all
2/10
I guess I didn't like it.
Where Tom Yum came into it I'm no longer really sure.
The picture even looks like rice noodles in red soup.

Blatant Promotion Warning
- Does your organisation deal in learning and development?
- Do they use e-learning?
- Does it use Moodle?
- Are you sentient?
If the answer to any of these is yes...
From 04/02/2010 onwards I've been at a conference for Moodle users.
I've had a grand time and returned informed, inspired and in fair health

A Truncated Castleton Curcuit
We went for a walk.
Since my eyesight became positively presbyopic (i can only see Elvis) S has taken on navigation duties.
I'm in charge of logging and documenting.
So every trip out is a surprise to me.
From Castleton about 270 degrees of option are up.
We set off climbing.
At the top we headed for Manchester.
2 hours out we turned around and came back.
The Dark was approaching.
The track is edited 'coz although the GPS is working fine since it's many upgrades, I'm not.
I forgot to turn it off and it tracked up all the way home.
My skills with Google Earth have improved.
I can edit tracks but how to re-measure etc is beyond me as yet.
